On Sunday, Rory McIlroy had to come from behind to get himself into a playoff at The Players Championship. On Monday, he won the playoff with relative ease over J.J. Spaun to win golf's so-called fifth major.

The world No 2 comfortably won the play-off after Spaun found the water on the 17th and the Northern Irishman claimed a memorable St Patrick’s Day triumph

Rory McIlroy had every reason to think he would be leaving The Players Championship with the gold trophy and a big payoff Sunday. He was three shots ahead of J.J. Spaun after a four-hour rain delay and had a rain-softened course ahead of him. Spaun refused to give in easily.

Scheffler shot a final round 1-over 73, ending his streak of 11 straight rounds at or below par at TPC Sawgrass. Scheffler admitted to not capitalizing on opportunities and struggling with his putting throughout the tournament.
