Norwegian police seized a Russian-crewed ship on suspicion of being involved in causing “serious damage” to a fiber cable in the Baltic Sea between Latvia and Sweden.

Norwegian authorities have released a cargo ship with an all-Russian crew, initially suspected of damaging a Baltic Sea telecoms cable. After investigation, no connection was found between the ship and the incident.

Following damage to a fiber optic cable between Latvia and Sweden, Norwegian authorities have searched a freighter. The shipping company is cooperating.
